About By the Numbers

By the Numbers is a YouTube channel and website about what companies' own annual reports say, as opposed to what the headlines say. Each episode takes one company's 10-K, follows the money through it, and explains the one pattern that matters most.

How we work

Every figure comes from the company's filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and is checked against them before publishing. When a number comes from somewhere else, such as an earnings release, we say so. Each episode page links to the filings we used.

We explain how a business makes and spends its money. We don't tell anyone to buy or sell a stock, and nothing here is financial or investment advice.
